New modern restaurant chain set to shake up the UAE’s dining scene

An exciting new restaurant chain is set to shake up the UAE’s dining scene thanks to a unique twist.
TWIST, due to open its flagship restaurant later this year in Al Mas Tower in Jumeirah Lake Towers in Dubai, offers small portions and a big menu, allowing diners to try several different dishes, instead of just one or two large ones.
The TWIST concept is the result of two years of research by professional business consultant, Thomas Klein International (TKI), which will manage the project, and their design team, PS Studio, based in Chicago.
The food will be prepared in five different show kitchens, each specialising in a particular type of cuisine. All the food is authentic: there is no fusion cuisine here.
TWIST takes the familiar conveyor belt concept made popular by sushi restaurants and applies it to an enormous range of cuisines, featuring food from Japan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Italy, Spain, Lebanon, and India.
“Diners in Dubai are already spoiled for choice, so we knew we had to create something really unique,” says Daniel G. During, Managing Director of TKI.
“There’s a genuine appetite for what TWIST offers – we’re confident we’re bringing something entirely new to the market. Gone are the days where you ponder over the choice between two dishes, then spend the rest of the meal eyeing up your friend’s dinner because you think you picked the wrong one.”
“TWIST means diners are free to experiment with an enormous variety of dishes, or stick to their old favourites if they prefer. And the small portions mean you never have to worry about wasting food: those with smaller appetites can have just a few dishes, while hungrier diners can have more. We’re confident that TWIST will prove a valuable addition to Dubai’s culinary scene,” added During.
Damien Rizzi, Director of Operations for TWIST, adds: “Of course we realise that you can have too much of a good thing: with 300 dishes on the menu even the hungriest customers will probably be overwhelmed. That’s why they’re not all on offer at the same time: we rotate our menus throughout the week, ensuring that there’s always something new, no matter how many times you come back.”
A total of Dhs 7 million has been invested into the launch of TWIST, and the owners plan to open several more around the UAE in the coming years.
