New Middle East Office for WTR

Leading composite pipe repair solutions provider Walker Technical Resources (WTR), an internationally recognised and leading name in asset integrity, announces further expansion into global markets with new Middle East office.

Operating in partnership with Apollo Enterprises, a multi-division group located in the heart of Doha, WTR’s Middle East general manager, John White will head-up the Qatar operation.

Graham Birnie, WTR managing director said: “Earlier this year we revealed plans to move on to our next stage of global growth, announcing a restructuring of our management team and targeted geographic locations.

“Only a couple of months on and we are already in a much stronger global position, particularly in the Middle East with our new Qatar base and now that John White is positioned there on a full-time basis.”

Diversification into new geographic locations and new market segments is a key aim for WTR, with 50 percent of the company’s business now being conducted internationally. Thanks to the large volume of new global contacts, WTR are projecting 25 percent growth per year, with an expected turnover of £9million by 2011.

John White, WTR Middle East general manager said: “Having a base here in one of WTR’s biggest potential growth regions will be massively beneficial to our future plans. We have already trained 20 local people as composite pipeline repair technicians, working in partnership with Apollo’s Industrial Coating division.

“Exhibiting at this year’s ADIPEC will give us the opportunity to meet with current and potential clients face to face, as well as demonstrating to all delegates WTR’s new and existing innovative ‘Technowrap’ product range, which is engineered for high quality composite repair and maintenance of pipelines.”

WTR now export the ‘Technowrap’ composite pipeline repair systems to Brazil, Norway, Canada, Egypt, Oman, Nigeria, Brunei, Qatar, and Libya. WTR employ 35 full time staff and have trained more than 400 composite pipeline repair technician worldwide.
