Underlining its suitability as the powerful heart of a virtualized server infrastructure, Fujitsu today announced that the best-selling PRIMERGY RX300 S5 x86 rack server has achieved two new world record benchmarks.
Independent tests verify the PRIMERGY RX300 S5’s status as the best performing 8-core system in both virtualized and Business Warehousing (BW) environments. Designed from the ground up for much-demanded virtualized applications, the dual-socket high-performance RX300 S5 platform offers industry-leading flexibility both in running multiple virtual servers and managing business processes, while contributing significant savings on hardware investment and maintenance.
As server virtualization moves increasingly into the mainstream, growing numbers of businesses are reaping the benefits from Dynamic Infrastructures, which provide easier, faster transition and ample headroom for growth. The powerhouse Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX300 S5 server provides not only best-in-class performance, but also reliability, high-availability, and security for customers’ business processes. Furthermore, Fujitsu provides customers with a fully-optimized virtualization platform, essential to leverage many advantages of leading software packages, such as VMware VSphere 4.
Chandan Mehta, Product Manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: “Achieving two major benchmarks for the PRIMERGY RX300 S5 really underlines the suitability of this rack server for implementing and taking advantage of cost and system consolidation benefits that are available to companies of all sizes by making the transition to a virtualized server environment. For customers, it is absolutely critical that the servers they use as foundation stones are absolutely capable of handling the complex processing requirements that virtualization and databases demand – and there is no better proof point than leadership in two independent benchmark tests.”
Two independent test results verify leadership for the Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX300 S5: a joint announcement with Oracle of a new world record on the SAP® Business Intelligence-Data Mart (BI-D) Standard Application Benchmark(1) with a four-node cluster, and a new all-time high score for the VMware VMmark test for 8-core dual-socket servers(3).
• The SAP BI-D benchmark provides a real-world indication of enterprise database performance through measuring system performance in handling high-volume queries to a business warehouse system database. This result complements an earlier world record on the same benchmark for single-node servers(2) announced by Fujitsu and Oracle just weeks ago.
• The VMware VMmark measures the performance of virtualized servers while running under load on physical hardware. Combined with a Fujitsu ETERNUS DX80 storage system, the PRIMERGY RX300 S5 achieved a new 8-core system world record score of 25.16@17 tiles – a standard VMmark measurement – on November 9, 2009.
