A recent court order has unsealed the names of more than 100 people connected to Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased sex offender who was accused of trafficking underage girls.
The names were part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s alleged victims, against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and accomplice. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of conspiracy and trafficking charges and is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
The unsealed documents do not contain an actual list of associates, but rather names of people who had some contact with Epstein or Maxwell, such as business partners, employees, friends, or accusers.
Many of those whose names appear in the documents are not accused of any wrongdoing or have been previously reported in the media. Some of the names are redacted or withheld for various reasons, such as being minors or sexual assault victims.
Some of the notable names that were revealed in the documents include:
Cate Blanchett, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cameron Diaz: These Hollywood stars were among the celebrities who attended a dinner party hosted by Epstein and Maxwell in 2000, according to a report by The Daily Beast.
Bill Clinton and Al Gore: The former president and vice president of the United States were both friends with Epstein and flew on his private jet, nicknamed the “Lolita Express”, several times, according to flight logs and eyewitness accounts.
David Copperfield and Kevin Spacey: The famous magician and actor were also passengers on Epstein’s jet, according to flight logs and Giuffre’s testimony.
Stephen Hawking and Marvin Minsky: The renowned physicist and computer scientist visited Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean, known as Little St. James, in 2006, as part of a scientific conference organized by Epstein.
Prince Andrew: The British royal has been accused by Giuffre of having sex with her when she was 17, after being introduced by Epstein and Maxwell. Prince Andrew has denied the allegations and said he has no recollection of meeting Giuffre.
The release of the names has sparked renewed interest and scrutiny into Epstein’s network of powerful and influential people, as well as the extent of his crimes and cover-ups. The unsealing of the documents is expected to continue in the coming weeks, as more information becomes available to the public.
