Advancing the Strategic Plans of the Municipal System and identifying common initiatives was the focus of a one-day workshop that took place yesterday at the Fairmont – Bab Al Bahar in Abu Dhabi. The workshop was hosted by the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) and was attended by representatives from the Abu Dhabi City municipality, Al Ain municipality, and the Western Region municipality who discussed ways to ensure greater alignment between them and improve the efficiency of their service delivery.
H.E. Rashid Al Hajeri, Chairman of Department of Municipal Affairs said: “The workshop builds on one that was held in February by the DMA, which was aimed at creating a unified Municipal direction by identifying common ground. It also focused on increasing co-ordination, and knowledge sharing with a goal of providing an infrastructure that creates a higher standard of living for residents of the Emirate. The overall municipal strategy aims to align with the vision of our leaders, the 2030 plan, and the Executive Council’s orders.”
Commenting on the workshop, His Excellency Ahmed Shareef, Under Secretary of the DMA in Abu Dhabi said: “The continuous cooperative efforts between the DMA and the Emirate’s municipalities will ensure we provide consistent quality and standards of service to our citizens and businesses. Together we are developing better tools to measure our performance so that we can continue to strive to do better and ensure a better quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”
“We now have a comprehensive strategic plan that has been developed by all the municipalities working together in conjunction with the Strategic Planning Department of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. Our plan also reflects industry best practice and supports our aim of achieving a sustainable living environment by setting global trends and world leading standards that will position Abu Dhabi as one of the leading governments in the world,” added H.E. Shareef.
