MUNICIPAL AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT OF AJMAN
VISITS THE DEPARTMNET OF MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS AND THE ABU DHBAI CITY MUNICIPALITY
IN AN EFFORT TO DISCUSS MUTUAL COLLABORATION
Abu Dhabi, May 16, 2010: Mutual municipal collaboration was high on the agenda as a senior level delegation from the Municipal and Planning Department of Ajman led by H.E. Ibrahim Salman Al Hammadi, Director of Corporate Excellence Department visited the department of Municipal Affairs in Abu Dhabi (DMA) and the Abu Dhabi city Municipality (ADM). The delegation was met and welcomed by His Excellency Ahmed Shareef, Under Secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) in Abu Dhabi.
H.E. al Shareef and the delegation discussed DMA’s municipal experience and the different development programs and initiatives that are playing a major role in placing the UAE on the global map. Among these projects discussed were the building codes, the addressing system, property laws, and other important initiatives and projects.
H.E. Al Shareef and DMA officials highlighted DMA’s Business excellence program and its new practices of quality management and technical operations. H.E. also noted the excellence tools and techniques used by DMA in accordance with international standards.
The delegation then visited Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) and was met by Mr. Abdulnour Ahmad Khouri, Executive Director-Strategic Planning, and Eng. Salah Awad Al Saraj, Executive Director-City planning and other officials from ADM. The vision, mission, and objectives of ADM were highlighted and discussed, in addition to presenting some of ADM’s projects and initiatives.
“DMA’s municipal experience would form a basis for future co-operation between DMA and the Municipal and Planning Department of Ajman,” said H.E. Al Shareef. “Efforts to enhance the relationship and mutual learning were the emphasis as many challenges facing our municipalities were the same, including the needs of a rapidly growing population and the consequent demand on our municipal services responsibilities,” he added.
Commenting on the visit, H.E. Al Hammadi said “The pace of development in Abu Dhabi, the vision and will to succeed is truly remarkable.” He concluded, “As DMA applies innovative strategies to successfully deal with the growth, we strive to learn from their experience.”
