Motivate Publishing announced the eagerly awaited photographic book Sheikh Khalifa – Life and Times by Royal Photographer Noor Ali Rashid at the 17th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair today.
The book provides an intriguing glimpse into the life of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. It illustrates Sheikh Khalifa’s outstanding contribution to the development of Abu Dhabi, the UAE and the Arab World – highlighting his key role on the international stage, first as Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and later as President of the UAE by the Supreme Council in 2004.
Sheikh Khalifa – Life and Times contains 200 photographs taken between the 1950s and the present day, the majority of which have remained unpublished until now. It is the sixth title in Motivate’s highly successful ‘Life and Times – Through the Lens of Noor Ali Rashid’ series, featuring the royal families of the UAE.

Noor Ali Rashid’s unique photographic collection spans half a century and has earned him the title of ‘Royal Photographer’.
Since before Federation, Noor Ali Rashid has been official photographer to the Rulers of this region. He was one of the first photojournalists to be officially recognized by British Political Agency, which produced the most up-to-date local news and photographic coverage of its time.
He has since been called upon to take pictures at state ceremonies as well as formal and informal portraits of the Rulers and their families, and has also taken historic images during official visits of foreign dignitaries to the UAE and during the Rulers’ visits overseas.
In 1997, Noor Ali was presented with the UAE Cultural and Scientific Association’s Sultan Al Owais Literary Award for the first two titles in this series. The books featured Abu Dhabi and Dubai and in 1998 earned a IAA-GCC Retail Publishing Award.
