The Moroccan poet Mohamed El Haloui dies

The Moroccan poet Mohamed El Haloui died over the weekend at the age of 82 after a long illness. The Moroccan news agency released an obituary explaining how he was born in Fez in 1922 and graduated from the university of Al Karawyine in 1947. He became a secondary school teacher in Fez and was arrested in 1944 by the French for his Moroccan nationalist activities.

 

He went on to write a series of literary works including the famous "Angham and asdae" (songs and echos), which was edited in 1965 by Dar Slimi at Casablanca. Another one of his popular works is "Choumoue" (candles).
