The region’s pressured utilities sector strained by continuously rising demand, alternative energies and eco-friendly options, will be some of the key topics during the two-day Middle East Power & Water 2007 conference organised by MEED Conferences at Abu Dhabi’s Intercontinental Hotel (opening today March 25 2007).
“Recent studies show that the GCC countries will invest $100 billion to generate 100,000 MW of additional power over the next 10 years to meet demand,” said Edmund O’Sullivan, conference chairman and editorial director of MEED.
“The two-day Middle East Power & Water 2007 conference is set to bring together senior government officials, international experts and leading industry figures to provide a true picture of the strain on utilities across the Middle East utilities.
“We will encourage top speakers to share fresh intelligence on current expansion plans, explore progress in private-sector participation and discuss the vital issues determining the industry’s regional outlook,” he added.
