South African President Thabo Mbeki held talks Sunday in Riyadh with King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdelaziz, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Mbeki arrived in the Saudi capital on Sunday for talks on bilateral relations and ways of boosting them as well as issues of mutual concern, said the agency.

Saudi Arabia established economic and trade ties with South Africa in 1994, when former president Nelson Mandela visited the kingdom.

Saudi Crown Prince and other senior officials visited Pretoria last May and signed several agreements.

Meanwhile, Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez left Riyadh Monday after holding talks with King Fahd and the Crown Prince, said the agency.
