ALBAWABA- A massive fire broke out Monday evening at an electrical substation in St. John’s Wood, one of London’s most upscale neighborhoods, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

More than 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were deployed to battle the flames, which engulfed the substation and spread to the roof of a nearby residential building. Thick plumes of smoke and towering flames were visible across much of Central London.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed it received over 160 emergency calls related to the explosion and subsequent blaze.

The incident comes just a day after widespread blackouts struck Spain and Portugal, sparking speculation over the unusual timing of large-scale power infrastructure fires across Europe. 

While officials have not confirmed any link or cause, the coincidence is drawing attention.
