A French magistrate has ordered three Islamic militants suspected of the 1995 Paris Orsay railway station bombing in which 30 people were wounded to stand trial.
A final decision, however, rests with the Paris appeal court.
Magistrate Jean-Louis Bruguiere submitted his request to the court earlier this month, legal sources said.
The three are: Boualem Bensaid, 32, Rachid Rmada, 30, both currently in jail in Britain and for which extradition demands have been made, and Ait Ali Belkacem, 31.
The attack on the Orsay station of the French capital's regional express network was the last of a wave of bombings across France in 1995 which killed 10 people and wounded 200.
Investigators believe the three men were the coordinator, financier and explosives expert -- all linked to the Algerian Armed Islamic Group (GIA) -- behind the bombings.
Court sources said Belkacem admitted in October to police and Bruguiere that he had placed the Orsay bomb which injured 30 people. But a week later he denied this, saying he had been pressured into making the confession while under questioning.
