Lufthansa has extended its route network to the Bahrain region: as of 2nd May, 2006 the German Carrier offers three weekly direct flights from Frankfurt to Bahrain, continuing to Abu Dhabi. The events that took place are inaugural activities with press groups from Bahrain as well as a promotion trip with VIP-delegations on the 11th May, 2006. Further Inaugural celebrations took place on the 18th of May, 2006 at the Gulf Hotel. Approximately 200 guests attended which included dignitaries and other government officials.
The Lufthansa office was first opened in Bahrain in April 1985. Currently the establishment consists of six employees, Mr. Waseem Shaikh, Ms. Janat Soomro, Mohd Malik, Tracy D'Souza, Saiqa Ghauri and Mahmood Ali.
Mr. Uwe Wriedt, General Manager U.A.E, and Director for the Gulf and Pakistan said, “Since our announcement of the inaugural flight into Bahrain, we experienced a more than positive feedback from our customers and enhanced relationships with them. We feel the Bahraini’s have been extremely supportive and shown keen interest for Lufthansa. Also by having a representative office of our own in Bahrain, this will afford our existing and certainly new customers more immediate access to our services – with no time, language or cultural barriers blocking the way. Lufthansa continues its strategy of flights to the world’s oil markets and growing industries. “

Lufthansa presented them with an appreciation award. Two lucky winners walked away with Business Class tickets to Berlin with overnight stays in the Adlon Hotel , Berlin.
