A group of Libyans living in Canada have set out on a campaign to prevent the deportation of a Libyan, Adel Ammar and his wife and their four children from the country.

The appeal, published on News and Views website, urged readers to send a letter to Canadian Minister of Citizenship and Immigration asking him to revoke the decision because deportation to Libya will jeopardize the life of Ammar, apparently a dissident.

”As you may be aware, a negative decision has been reached in respect of the "risk assessment". At this stage we, as a community, feel that we should implore with you for a stay of all the procedures. The reason for such a request arises from the fact that we all know that Mr. Ammar's deportation is unfair and entails prosecution, torture and certain death in Libya,” said the letter – Albawaba.com
