At least two people were killed and several others injured in two explosions that rocked Sunday dawn the center of the Libyan capital, a security source conveyed. "Two explosions occurred at dawn. Near the Military Academy of Omar al-Mukhtar and the second near the Ministry of the Interior. There have been at least two deaths and injuries" the source said on condition of anonymity.
This is the first such attack in Tripoli since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime late 2011.
At 6:00 local time (4:00 GMT), Omar al-Mokhtar Avenue, at the heart of the capital, was closed to traffic, while checkpoints have been installed on the main streets of Tripoli.
The blasts whose origin remains unknown occured on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
