Egyptian minister of health and population, Hala Zayed, has given the presidency of the 68th session of the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean to her Libyan counterpart Ali Mohamed Miftah Al-Zanati.

The handover came at the end of Zayed’s presidency with the approval of the committee’s members.
During her speech, she highlighted the region’s commitment to continue providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, and to launching a polio eradication strategy for the period 2022-2026.
