The meeting between Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah and head of Mustaqbal Movement, MP Saad Hariri finally took place Sunday evening, it was announced Monday. Sources said the meeting, which was announced after midday Monday, covered the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region.
It was an occasion for an initial review of the past period to absorb its consequences in an atmosphere of openness, said al-Manar TV, Hizbullah's mouthpiece. A joint statement said that both leaders stressed national unity, while reiterating their common position regarding peace as well as the need to take all necessary measures to prevent internal tensions and to strengthen national dialogue in an effort to prevent discord regardless of political differences.
They also agreed to the need to strengthen government work and adhere to the Taef as well as the Doha agreements. The statement said Hariri and Nasrallah also vowed to continue bilateral contacts and encourage the atmospheres of dialogue.
Press reports said present at the meeting were also Nasrallah's Political Assistant Hajj Hussein Khalil and Hariri's Bureau Head Nader Hariri and Mustapha Nasser.
