Two rockets were fired overnight on Friday from the South towards Israel, reported the National News Agency.

It said that unknown assailants fired Katyusha rockets at 1:00 am from the region Kfar Hammam and al-Fardis, but they missed their target and landed inside Lebanese territories.

LBCI television reported however that the Israeli army retaliated by firing artillery shell.

The Lebanese army has since started its search for the rocket launchpads and an investigation in the incident is underway, said NNA.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) added that Israeli jets fired light bombs over the area.

On Tuesday, a rocket was launched from the outskirts of the southern town of Shebaa towards Israel, but it also landed in Lebanese territories.

A number of similar incidents have taken place recently in light of the Israeli campaign against the Gaza Strip that began earlier this month.
