The Lebanese government is calling on “tech-minded nationals” to submit ideas for information and communication technology (ICT) projects to be presented at an international conference in Beirut this summer, reported the Daily Star newspaper on Wednesday.

The “e-Lebanon: Banking, Payments and Financing ICT” conference, which will take place June 6-8, has been organized by the Central Bank to encourage the development of the ICT sector in Lebanon.

An evaluation committee will select the best proposals for presentation, and their designers will mingle with potential financiers at the conference and learn more about financing methods.

The committee is made up of private and public sector ICT experts, said the paper.

The committee will only consider projects to be implemented in Lebanon and submitted by resident Lebanese companies or persons. The submission deadline is May 25, and the committee will make its decision by the end of that month.

Potential applicants must complete a project evaluation form on the Central Bank website www.bdl.gov.lb/e-lebanon or at the first vice-governor’s office at the Central Bank – Albawaba.com
