The Algerian customs services seized Monday, October 25 a large number of what they describe as 'forbidden products' at Algeria's port. It is known that 35 lorries were involved, worth millions of dollars. Customs authorities also indicated that 12 tractors were seized as well as 240,000 pistols. These goods were in five containers coming from the French port of Marseille.

This follows a large recent drug seizure in the south of the country. Algeria has acquired a bad reputation for being a smuggling center of both goods and people. This latest seizure will only increase pressure on the Algerian customs authorities to step up their actions against smuggling, particularly of drugs. (albawaba.com)
