Afghan interim government authorities had repatriated a 14-year-old Kuwaiti boy to his country, reported the Kuwaiti official news agency (KUNA).
The teenager was arrested while searching for his father, allegedly a member of al-Qaeda network led by the world's most wanted man, Osama bin Laden.
An afghan foreign ministry spokesman, Abdul Khalil Shinwari on Wednesday told the agency by satellite telephone from Kabul that this is the unique case of an Arab youth that had been returned directly to his country. He said that Afghan authorities before returning him, thoroughly probed the case and whole investigations revealed that the Kuwaiti youth was not involved in any terrorist activity. "He was declared innocent and purely on humanitarian basis was returned to Kuwait directly."
The spokesman told Kuna that anti-Taliban northern alliance forces in eastern Afghanistan captured the boy after alliance liberated it from the Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters. After the fall of Taliban government, many Arabs had been arrested and were facing interrogations.
Also, in Pakistan various interrogation teams including United States’ FBI and intelligence officers from their respective native countries are questioning many Arab prisoners. US forces believe that some Arab fighters are still hiding in Afghanistan or border areas of Pakistan. (Albawaba.com)
