Another Kuwaiti opposition activist receives jail time

Kuwaiti opposition writer Mohammed al-Wushaihi received a three-month jail sentence Wednesday for using Twitter to post "tweets" about a former prime minister, according to AFP sources. The Kuwaiti court rule that the tweets were derogatory and "defamed" the former premier Sheikh Nasser Mohammed al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and high-ranking member of the ruling family. The court stipulated that al-Wushaihi must serve his jail time immediately, but that he would be able to appeal the case.

This is not the first time that Kuwait has ordered jail time for such actions. The Gulf country has jailed several opposition figures and former MPs who were accused of posting insults about the emir on Twitter.
