ALBAWABA - U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, today to take part in the negotiations to reach a ceasefire deal and end the war in the Gaza Strip.
The peace deal, drafted by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes the release of the remaining Israeli hostages in exchange for freeing Palestinians in Israeli jails and ending the war in Gaza, which crossed the two-year mark yesterday.
According to Axios, the indirect talks between Israeli and Hamas negotiators have made little positive progress.
However, the U.S. and Israeli officials are waiting for Kushner and Witkoff to arrive and join the negotiations, saying it is the only way to hit a deal.
On the other hand, the organisers of a new Gaza-bound aid flotilla reported on Wednesday in a post on social media that the Israeli army blocked at least three of its boats from continuing their way to Gaza.
"Three vessels -- Gaza Sunbirds, Alaa Al-Najjar, and Anas Al-Sharif -- have been attacked and illegally intercepted by the Israeli military" in the early morning, 220 kilometres (around 140 miles) off the coast of Gaza, the Global Sumud Flotilla posted on X.
