Jotun Paints offers 20-years protection for property and infrastructure in the Middle East
Paint manufacturer emerges as leader in concrete protection
Jotun Paints, one of the world’s leading producers and suppliers of paints and coatings, is offering protection for property and infrastructure in the Middle East for as long as 20 years through its wide range of high quality products. Having invested in intensive research and development as well as in the latest manufacturing technologies, the company has emerged as a leader in delivering protective and decorative paints and coatings for concrete that can withstand the harsh weather conditions prevalent in the Middle East.
The fundamentals behind the formulation of all Jotun paint products involve an extensive knowledge of the Middle East weather systems and how it affects the structural integrity of concrete as a material used in almost all construction projects. A group of scientists deployed in the company’s central laboratory complex in Norway and regional laboratories in UAE, Malaysia and Korea combined the strengths of state-of-the-art technology and innovative thinking to incorporate features that will protect concrete surfaces from carbonation and corrosion. Through years of development, Jotun Paints’ formulations have also evolved to provide long lasting colour retention with additional protection that is unique to its current range of products.
“Amidst the negative implications of the economic crisis to the construction sector, we can still see a significant number of infrastructure projects being funded in the region - from bridges, transport infrastructure, reservoirs to waste treatment plants and desalination plants, as well as the construction of high profile commercial and residential developments. This poses an excellent opportunity for us to help governments, developers and homeowners extend the lifespan of property and infrastructure, and in effect fuel the growth of the construction and property sector in the region,” said Eirik Kristensen, Regional Marketing Manager - MENA, Jotun Paints. “We are proud, after years of research and development, to have reached a position to finally offer the twin benefits of protection and decoration, enabling us to provide economical and workable solutions for our customers.”
Jotun Paints’ most popular protective paint products for concrete include the Jotashield range of products, Jotacote and Penguard. The company also specialises in providing unique solutions for specific projects within specific locations and environments, known as concrete protection systems. This involves a combination of products, which in totality will provide optimum protection based on factors such as the specific protective requirements of the structure, pre-treatment, application method, environmental impact, and required lifetime of the system. The concrete protection system has been a part of a number of high profile projects across the region, including Dubai Metro, The Palm Jumeirah - Gateway Bridge in Dubai, the huge cooling towers of Afsin-Elbistan Thermal Power Plant in Turkey, Melia Pharaoh Hotel in Egypt, and Al Khaleej Sugar Factory, the world’s largest concrete raw sugar storage tank in Dubai.
“Our concrete protection systems have been proven across the world to withstand the freezing winters in northern Norway, to the scorching heat of the Middle East, and high humidity and heavy rain throughout South East Asia. In addition to investing highly on our product development, we have also exerted considerable efforts in building a team of specialists who provide comprehensive technical support and solve even the most complex protection challenges of our clients. By applying the same uncompromising standards, whether in the development of our product range or in providing total customer support to our clients, we ensure that our regional customers receive the best technical advice, service and follow-up in the world,” concluded Kristensen.
