Umniah, the fastest growing mobile operator in Jordan and a subsidiary of Batelco Bahrain, has recently named Joseph Hanania, CEO of Umniah as part of its on-going strategy to forge the company’s positioning in the Jordanian local market.
In his new capacity, Joseph Hanania will lead Umniah to take on the challenges of local and regional expansion. With 21 years of experience in telecommunications, information technology and digital convergence, combined with a successful leadership and management track record in the US, Europe, Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, makes Joseph the ideal candidate to lead Umniah.
Prior to joining Umniah, Joseph spent 13 years with Hewlett-Packard (HP) where he initially managed HP's sales operations in North America. Later he became the Regional Managing Director for HP, responsible for all its operations in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia countries.
Joseph’s many years of work with clients, companies and governments throughout the region, his multinational experience and his tenure as a board director and/or advisor to a number of organizations, enables him to effectively serve the requirements of the customers and markets in which he and his team operate. He is committed to use his telecommunications and information technology background to support Jordan’s aim to become a leading country in providing telecommunications and IT services to the rest of the world.
Prior to HP Joseph was the General Manager of a joint venture between AT&T, South Western Bell and Bell South in the US. The venture operated globally and was a leading provider of telecommunications services. Before joining AT&T, Joseph spent 4 years at Andersen Consulting in the U.S.
"The Jordanian market is continuously becoming more attractive to many professional investors, and we are proud to play a key role in its development. “Umniah is committed to providing innovative telecommunications services that add great value to its customers. Equally, Umniah is committed to creating exciting job opportunities to many Jordanian men and women and supporting the economic, educational and social development of the Kingdom” said Joseph Hanania, CEO of Umniah.
Hanania stressed the significance of Umniah's reputable position as a major player in the local market among other mobile providers, especially with its talented and energetic team that allowed it to serve the requirements of more than 700.000 subscribers in its first year of operations.
