Jordanian - Egyptian summit held in Aqaba

Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak and Egyptian first lady Suzan Mubarak arrived in Aqaba Saturday on an official visit to the Kingdom. Upon arrival at King Hussein International Airport, they were received by King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah.


"The visit comes within consultation and coordination between Jordan and Egypt on the current developments in the Middle East, particularly the situation in the Palestinian lands, and the economic crisis facing the Palestinian people," Petra reported.


The two leaders will also exchange views on Iraq and a number of bilateral issues.


Mubarak and his wife were also received by Director of the King's Office Dr. Basem Awadallah, the king's Personal Envoy Farouq Qasrawi, Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Al Khatib, Director of the Intelligence Department Mohammad Thahabi, President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Nadir Thahabi, Aqaba Governor Khaled Awadallah, Jordan's ambassador to Cairo Omar Rifai and a number of senior civil and military official.


The delegation accompanying president Mubarak comprises Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul Ghait, Chief of the Egyptian Presidency Court Dr. Zakaria Azmi and the Egyptian ambassador to Jordan Ahmad Riziq.
