Jordan’s police dispersed on Tuesday a sit-in at the Prime Minister’s offices in Amman, where about 100 persons protested the continuation of the arrest of citizens who took part in rallies in solidarity of the Palestinian Intifada.

Many of the marches organized throughout October witnessed clashes between demonstrators and the police forces, leading to the death of a 19-year-old Palestinian refugee, and the injury and detention of dozens.

The families of the detainees have set out on a campaign for their sons’ release, but Monday’s sit-in ended with more arrests as 15 political activists were seized by the police after a verbal quarrel between the two sides.

The new detainees include Riad Nawayseh, member of the Professional Associations Council, Khaled Ramadan, member of the Engineers’ Association and columnist Muwafaq Mahadeen.
