Durrat Al Bahrain played host today to Jenson Button, the Honda Racing F1 team driver, ahead of his participation in the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix on 15 April. Jenson Button became a home owner at Durrat Al Bahrain in April 2005, and has used his visits to Bahrain as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix season since then to inspect the progress being made on his home.
Set against the stunning crystal clear waters off the southern tip of Bahrain, Durrat Al Bahrain is Bahrain’s largest planned mixed use residential, leisure and tourist destination.
The senior management of Durrat Al Bahrain welcomed Jenson Button to the development and showed him the progress that has been made since his visit last year.
Jenson’s first stop on his tour was the “model villa” where he was able to experience first-hand the stylish lay-outs and finishes that will be fitted in his villa.
He then joined Durrat Al Bahrain’s management on a boat trip around the project. As he toured the development, Jenson was also able to experience the full scale of the Durrat Al Bahrain which, at 21 square kilometers, is equal to the size of Manama.
At the end of the visit, Jenson Button, said, “I’m really impressed with the progress that’s been made at Durrat Al Bahrain. You can actually see it taking shape now, with the islands in place and villas being built. It was fantastic to get a real feel for just how big the project is and to see what a finished villa is going to look like. I’m really looking forward to moving in during June next year – it’s going to be a great place to live!”
Mr. Jassim Ahmed Al Jowder, Chief Executive Officer, Durrat Al Bahrain, said, “We’re delighted that we’ve been able to show Jenson the progress that we’ve made. He was obviously an early believer in the potential of the project and it’s great to be able to show him how we’re delivering on our promise by making Durrat Al Bahrain a reality.”
Upon completion in the latter part of 2010, it is expected that Durrat Al Bahrain Project will accommodate about 60,000 permanent residents and about 4,500 visitors daily.
