ALBAWABA - At least 37 Palestinians were killed in the most recent escalation of the conflict, which started after Israel withdrew from a truce deal, while Israeli air and ground assaults continued across Gaza on Sunday.

Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground said that 11 individuals, including 9 children, were killed in the Al-Tuffah area of Gaza City as a result of Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire that targeted Al-Nakheel Street.

Hospitals are still overcrowded, and because of a dire shortage of beds, many wounded patients are treated on the ground.  Eight individuals were murdered in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, while seven more, including women and children, were killed in Israeli attacks on the Qizan Rashwan neighborhood of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

One family lost three members when their house in the Al-Amal neighborhood was attacked, and there were also reports of casualties in the area of Haroun al-Rashid School and in Al-Mawasi, where displaced people were taking refuge in tents.

For the third day in a row, Israeli ground troops advanced further into the Shujaiya area.  Palestinian resistance members from the Al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad said that they used a potent explosive device to destroy an Israeli vehicle.

Additionally, the Israeli army stepped up its operations in northern Gaza, shooting on civilian shelters in Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun and executing home searches.
