Israeli occupation forces raid East Jerusalem and West Bank homes, detain five Palestinians

Israeli forces on Sunday detained at least five Palestinians during predawn raids in the occupied West and East Jerusalem, according to local Palestinian and Israeli army sources.

Local sources told Ma'an tht Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Omar Gharib, after raiding his home in the al-Issawiyah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem.

Locals in the southern occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem reported that Israeli forces detained Fatah member Nabil Ahmad Badir Taqatqa, from his home in the in the village of Beit Fajjar.

Also in the Bethlehem district, Israeli forces detained Daoud Mazin Shusha, 19, from the vilalge of Husan.

In the souther Hebron district, Isreli forces raided the house of former prisoner Omar Abu Sneina and summoned him for interrogation.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed a total of four detentions to Ma'an, citing one from Hebron, two from Husan, and one from Beit Fajjar.

Israeli forces conduct night raids across the occupied Palestinian territory on a near-daily basis. According to UN documentation, the Israeli army carried out 185 military detention raids over the past two weeks.

According to prisoners rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of August. The organization estimates that 40 percent of Palestinian men have been detained by Israel at some point in their lives.
