ALBAWABA - In an announcement earlier this morning, the Israeli army said its troops killed an Islamic Jihad commander along with 4 others inside a mosque during an armed clash in Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm.

In the announcement, the Israeli Army said that it had killed Muhammad Jaber, also known as Abu Shujaa, along with four other fighters after being besieged inside a mosque in the camp for more than 18 hours.

The killing of Abu Shujaa raised the death toll after Israel launched its latest military operation in the West Bank to 18.

The bodies of Abu Shujaa and the four other fighters were detained by Israeli troops, while ambulance crews were prevented from entering the camp to treat the injuries and attend to the bodies of those killed by Israeli fire.

The Israeli Army announced the "major operation" describing it as the largest military operation in the West Bank since the Intifada (Palestinian uprising) in 2002. Hundreds of troops were deployed to the camps with the support of drones, bulldozers, and live bullets.

Online footage showed Israeli troops and bulldozers storming the refugee camp of Jenin followed by additional military reinforcements, with news that the army has blocked the ins and outs of the camp.

Later on Wednesday, medical sources reported that three Palestinians sustained injuries in the current Israeli military attack on the Al-Far'a refugee camp, which is located south of Tubas.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, two of the injured people were physically assaulted by Israeli forces inside the camp, while one man received treatment for shrapnel wounds from Israeli gunfire.
