ALBAWABA- An Israeli drone strike on the southern Lebanese town of Kafraya killed one civilian and wounded five others on Tuesday, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
The attack, which struck a residential area at around 2:30 PM local time, destroyed several homes and sparked urgent rescue operations.
Health Minister Firas Abiad condemned the strike as a “blatant violation” of Lebanese sovereignty and urged international intervention. The victim was identified as a 34-year-old local resident.
The incident adds to growing tensions since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect in November 2024 under UN Resolution 1701.
Despite the truce, Lebanese authorities report at least 83 civilian deaths and 200 injuries from Israeli strikes since its signing, alongside dozens of documented violations.
Israel claimed the Kafraya strike targeted a Hezbollah operative, but Lebanese officials dismissed the assertion as a pretext for aggression.
The Lebanese Army deployed reinforcements to the border area as families fled north, raising fears of renewed conflict along the volatile frontier.
