ALBAWABA - The Israeli military has released footage showing the arrest of Ali Suleiman Al-Asi, a Syrian national accused of collaborating with an Iranian-affiliated network. The operation, conducted in recent months by Israel's Egoz Unit under the 210th Division, also included portions of Al-Asi’s alleged confessions.
According to Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee, the cross-border nighttime operation took place within Syrian territory and led to the capture of a member of what Israel claims is an Iranian-linked terrorist network.
Adraee elaborated that Israeli forces, alongside members of Unit 504, detained Al-Asi as part of a preemptive security operation. Al-Asi, a Syrian resident from Saida in southern Syria, was reportedly recruited by Iran to gather intelligence on Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) positions along the border, with the intention of facilitating future attacks.
The Israeli spokesperson emphasized that the operation not only prevented a potential attack but also exposed key tactics used by Iranian networks operating near the Golan Heights. Al-Asi was reportedly under close surveillance prior to his arrest, allowing Israeli forces to act decisively to mitigate the threat.
