The Israel Air Force for 20 years failed to uphold an agreement it had with reserve pilots - that if they died in service, their widows would receive pensions like those of pilots in the permanent force, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The air force, according to the Israeli paper, agreed secretly with reserve pilots that they would sign an application for joining the force permanently, which would go into effect retroactively in the eventuality that they died. In that case, the widow would receive a full pilot's pension, the paper said quoting an Israel Radio report.
But, the report says, the agreement was never put into effect.
However, several pilots' widows appealed in the past for such a pension but were turned down, the daily added, saying that, recently, an appeal from a widow - who added testimony from dozens of pilots as well as Air Force Commander Dan Halutz - has been under consideration - Albawaba.com
