The Israeli cabinet decided on Sunday to free 10 Jordanians held in Israeli jails. A source from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry affirmed that Jordan and Israel were making the necessary arrangements to complete the process of releasing the detainees.
The Israeli cabinet had discussed the release of 11 Jordanians, though no information was immediately available on the identity of the one prisoner whom the cabinet decided not to release.
The Jordanians' release was presented to the cabinet as a "special gesture" to Jordan and King Abdullah on the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.
The prisoners will be released Tuesday, a government official told the Associated Press. All the prisoners are categorized as having no "blood on their hands." Four are being held for "security-related offenses," such as assisting in attacks or holding weapons, Haaretz reported.
