The Israeli army on Saturday released the identities of the three soldiers kidnapped by the militant group Hizbollah along the Lebanese border.

The three men are Chief Sergeant Omar Sowad, from the Druze village of Salameh in Galilee; Chief Sergeant Avraham Binyamin, from Bnei Beraq outside of Tel Aviv, and Sergeant Adi Abitan of Tiberias, an army statement said.

Hundreds of residents of the latter two towns took to the streets Saturday to show their anger at the kidnappings, Israeli public radio said.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak earlier said the Jewish state held Lebanon and Syria "responsible" for the three soldiers' fate.

"We will spare no effort of any kind to bring our boys home quickly," Barak said.
