Israeli police arrested the brother of Marwan Barghouthi, head of the Fateh movement in the West Bank, said reports Tuesday.

AFP said that the Israeli police found him in possession of night vision material.

Hisham Bargouthi, who has Saudi nationality, was arrested as he was trying to cross Allenby bridge, the crossing point between Jordan and the West Bank, carrying material that authorities said could be used for weapons, reported the BBC.online.

But Hisham was quoted by AFP as telling the police that he was carrying the night vision material for use in a camera for his son.

Marwan Barghouti has become a hated figure in Israel due to his leading role in the Intifada and his repeated statements against negotiating peace with Israel – Albawaba.com
