Simultaneous bomb blasts that rocked Baghdad on Thursday morning killed five people, Iraqi officials reported.

Speaking to the Associated Press, a police officer said that two bombs hidden in clothing stalls in Baghdad's Al Arabi market went off simultaneously on Thursday morning.

The bombs also left 15 people wounded, AP reported.

An Iraqi medical official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to the media, confirmed the casualty figures.

Busy public places such as markets, restuarants, mosques and cafes are often targeted by militants in Iraq, AP reported.

Thursdays' bombings took place as Iraqi security forces and allied Sunni tribal groups are fighting Al Qaeda-affiliated militants who have taken control of large swathes of Iraq's western Anbar province since December.
