Six car bombs rocked Baghdad on Thursday, targeting mostly Shiite neighborhoods and killing at least five people, medical officials said.
The bombs happened within an hour of each other from around midday (0900 GMT) in various parts of Baghdad, leaving dozens more wounded, Agence France Presse reported.
Four of the neighborhoods hit in the attacks were populated by Iraq's Shiite majority, while the other two blasts occurred in the commercial Karrada district of the capital, according to AFP.
Three of the car bombs hit popular market areas that were bustling in the midday rush.
Thursday's bombing spate comes one day after 33 people were killed after a series of attacks went off across Baghdad. A wave of bombings near the capital's heavily-fortified Green Zone, which houses many of Iraq's governmental buildings, killed 25 people, according to AFP.
As of Thursday early afternoon, no group had yet claimed responsibility for the bombings, but Sunni militant groups, including the Al Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, have often been behind suicide bombs and car bomb attacks across Iraq.
