Two separate incidents left nine people dead in Iraq on Sunday. In what is being called one of the most shocking attacks in recent events, two separate attacks have shaken the region.
The first incident, in Tuz Khurmatu, militants surrounded a police encampment forcing six policemen out of their shelter where they were protecting a construction site. The assailants forced the policemen to pray before executing all six of them. Five of the men died at the scene and the final policeman died at the hospital according to a local Tuz official.
In a separate incident in Baiji, the decapitated heads of three men were found in a town market on Sunday morning as reported by local police officers in the town. The men were believed to be an anti-Al Qaeda militia chief, his son and his cousin. They were kidnapped earlier in the week near the provincial capital of Tikrit.
This are the most shocking recent attacks in the city during Iraq’s worst prolonged period of unrest since it emerged in 2008 from a war. Aside from the attacks, the region comes with security forces also battling anti-government fighters in western Anbar province.
