Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran) called Tuesday for the obliteration of Israel, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The Pasdaran believe that the state of Israel, this cancer, must be wiped off the Middle East map," the corps said in a statement cited by IRNA.
The statement said it was the Pasdaran's "duty to support the just struggle of the Palestinian people," adding that Israel was in a "weak position despite its military superiority."
Earlier Tuesday, the commander-in-chief of the Pasdaran, General Rahim Safavi, welcomed seven Palestinians wounded in the recent Middle East violence who came to Tehran for medical treatment.
Iran's wealthy state Foundation for the Disinherited last week announced it had arranged for some 100 severely wounded Palestinians to be treated in hospitals.
Tehran, which does not recognize the state of Israel and is opposed to the peace process, has been mobilizing public opinion in support of the Intifada, or Palestinian uprising, in the wake of the latest violence.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has final say on all matters of state, has called on Muslim nations worldwide to pave the way for a holy war against Israel.
