In light of Iran’s recent consecutive successes in the movie making arena, Iranian director Muwatinah Ibrahim Farouza, will release her latest movie Al Rajul Al Sagheer (The Little Man) in French theaters soon, reported AFP.
Iran has recently won a series of International awards including the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival, which went to Jafar Baha’ai’s Al Da’aira (The Circle).
Al Rajul Al Sagheer will scuttle its way into theaters on the 29th of September.
The movie, which was shot in 1998, depicts the story of a young boy, living in a small village, trying to support his poor family.
The young boy’s father had left the family in order to go and look for more lucrative work after his coal selling business went downhill. The boy, Mohammad, then finds himself having to quit his school, despite the fact that he was an excellent student. He has to pursue a farming career on the measly piece of land owned by his family. Mohammad’s grandfather decided to give the piece of land to Mohammad, in order to ‘make a man out of him,’ in a society where children are forced to grow up quickly.
The movie’s running time is 1 hour and 25 minutes.
The theme is not new to the Iranian cinema which has covered the issue of children and their problems in Iranian society many times.
Faruza, in particular, has pursued this issue at different times in his career in various movies including Al Muftah (The Key) and Al Jarrah (The Vase), which was also released in French cinema in 1996. The Vase was received with great success - Albawaba.com.
