Iran on Thursday lodged protest with Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei against disclosure of confidential information of the member states. Member of Iranian delegation to the IAEA Board of Governors Sirus Nasseri told IRNA that Iranian protest focused on publication of confidential information every member state provides for the IAEA in the international press.
"The confidentiality of information Iran has provided for IAEA about its nuclear sites, despite the country`s repeated calls, has not been honored by the agency," he said.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov said Iran's nuclear reactor in Bushehr poses no risks to peace in the Middle East and Moscow has received no protests from the West about its assistance on the project. "IAEA is the monitoring mechanism for everything we do in Iran in the area of nuclear power plant. The entire project is under IAEA control," Lavrov said, according to IRNA.
Russia had "discussed it with our friends, with my colleagues in the US, France, the UK and Germany. They fully understand what we are doing in Iran. They don`t have any complaints about it," he said in an interview Wednesday with the BBC`s Newsnight program.
