Iran and Pakistan have agreed to step up security efforts to combat cross-border crime.
The two countries said in a statement that they will extend their cooperation against arms smuggling, drug trafficking and the movement of known criminals. The statement was issued after a meeting in Islamabad between the Pakistani Interior Minister, Moinuddin Haiderranian, and the Iranian national security advisor, Hassan Rohani, reported BBC.online.
Both countries are on a route used to smuggle drugs to the West.
Rohani arrived in Islamabad Tuesday, accompanied by
a nine-member delegation, to meet with President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar, military leader of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, and Foreign Minister Abdus Sattar in addition to ministers of interior and petroleum and natural resources and discuss with them ways to further improve cooperation between the two countries – Albawaba.com
