Iran's Majlis speaker, Ali Larijani, said that the American officials are expected to prove the change in their attitude towards Iran "in practice." "If the US new administration takes practical steps for reconciliation with Iranian nation and respect rights of the Palestinian people then there would be a change in their attitude," said the speaker, according to IRNA.
Noting that change was the motto of President-elect Barack Obama during his electoral campaign, Larijani said that the president-elect "should prove this change in practice."
Commenting on a recent statement made by an official of the US State Department about offering "poisoned carrot" to Iran, Larijani said, "Iranians would make them to eat that poisoned carrot themselves."
Larijani made the remarks reacting to the statement made by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns who had referred to the opening an American interest section in Tehran as "poisoned carrot". He made the statement in a meeting with a group of Israeli diplomats in Washington.
