Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said Thursday in reaction to the March 27-28 Arab Summit resolution that any stance taken to close ranks of Muslim and Arab states for the sake of Palestinian Intifada and full restoration of Palestinians' rights will be valuable, reported official news agency (IRNA).

However, Asefi said that the Arab Summit resolution concerning the three Iran-UAE disputed islands (of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Moussa) was ”repeated, one-sided and totally biased" stance.

Condemning the paragraph, Asefi said the islands have always been Iranian and will remain an integral part of the Iranian territory forever.

He called on the friendly and Arab states to encourage the UAE to hold direct talks with Iran without any precondition on current misunderstanding between the two countries

He stressed that Iran holds function of the UAE government and the nature and one-sided stances of the trilateral committee as responsible for failure of the trilateral committee

The committee is composed of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Recently, the 21st summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) held in Manama, Bahrain, also renewed demands of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the three Iranian islands.

Both nations have said they will never retract their claims to the strategic Gulf isles, which Iran has held since 1971 when Britain pulled out of the region – Albawaba.com
