Iran on Sunday strongly denied that traces of weapons-grade uranium had been found in its nuclear sites,

stressing that the report in the Reuters news agency was "baseless and false", according to the official IRNA news agency.

"The International Atomic Energy Agency experts have not

reported any case to this effect at the end of their recent visit to Tehran," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters during his weekly news briefing.

According to Reuters, Western diplomats who follow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) claimed recent intelligence triggered suspicion the Islamic republic had not stopped enriching uranium but moved enrichment activities to smaller sites out of the view of the UN.

In the meantime, IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei is expected to arrive in Iran Tuesday for talks with high-level Iranian officials. (Albawaba.com)
