An informed source at Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said Friday Tehran's response to 5+1 Group's package of incentives was delivered to EU Foreign Policy Chief Solana by Iran's Ambassador to Brussels. The source added, according to IRNA, "Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has signed Iran's response letter to the West's package of incentives."

SNSC Secretary and Supreme Leader's representative at that council Saeed Jalili is scheduled to meet the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana late July to discuss the two sides letters of incentives.

Meanwhile, Solana Friday evaluated his phone talk with Jalili as "positive." Solana's spokeswomen Christina Gallach, reflecting her viewpoints on the matter, added, "The two sides had a positive and constructive conversation, in whose course they agreed to meet personally to pursue the talks."

She added, "Iran's Security Council secretary mentioned having forwarded Iran's official response to the 5+1 incentives package, signed by Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki."

The 5+1 letter of incentives is said to be aimed at encouraging Iran to suspend uranium enrichment, which the West says might be aimed at military purposes, but Iran emphatically stresses is for providing nuclear fuel for its peaceful nuclear activities.
