Former Parliament Member from Tehran and head of the sixth
parliament`s plan and budget commission Majid Ansari was named on Tuesday to replace former vice president for legal and parliamentary affairs, Mohammad Ali Abtahi.
Abtahi resigned in protest at the impeachment of former minister of roads and transport Ahmad Khorram. He had also protested to the Guardian Council for what he described as an "undemocratic election", which led to the shaping of the seventh parliament, IRNA news agency reported.
Ansari, a mid-ranking cleric, is member of the Assembly of
Experts. He is also a member of the Expediency Council.
A vocal critic of the Guardian Council, Ansari criticized the body for ignoring the Supreme Leader`s demand not to disqualify reform-minded MPs of the former parliament from running for the seventh Majlis election, the agency added. (Albawaba.com)
