The Ministry of Interior is organizing a technology and science security conference under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, with the support of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and Reed Exhibitions Middle East.
The event will take place from 1 to 3 March in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center and is aimed at current developments and future challenges in the field of international security and risk prevention.
Brigadier Saeed Salem Al Hanki, Chief of the Police Judicial Council said: “The ISNR conference provides a great opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and information, through case studies presented by distinguished experts, academics and officials concerned with the security, technology and risk prevention sectors, both locally and globally.
“The conference will include sessions where experts from the US Police Department, US Transportation Security Administration, European Parliament, Europol, French High Committee for Civil Defense, and Spanish Ministry of Interior, will speak on their specific areas of expertise,” he added.
The first session is entitled, 'The Role of Information and Technology in the Fields of International Security and Risk Prevention of Threats'. It will focus on the experience of the U.A.E. in the use of feedback to fight crime. The session will also address the importance of information in the prevention of security threats, and international cooperation in relation to collection and exchange of information at national, regional and global levels. It will have two key focuses; the role of information in the fields of international security and risk prevention, and the importance of investing in technology and its strategic role in serving international security and in risk prevention.
Panelists in the second session will discuss the use of technology in data collection and analysis in the context of national security requirements and privacy, presented by experts from the US Police Department. They will also present a case study about enhancing synergies between end users and technology developers in main events security.
Day two activities will cover 'Readiness to Cope with Security Issues and Crises.' A wide range of topics will be discussed, including vulnerable target protection and new approaches to dealing with crises related to nuclear energy security. The cost-benefit analysis of investing in security, and U.A.E. contributions in the area of crisis and threat prevention at the regional and international levels will also be on the agenda.
The final sessions on the second day will update participants on new trends in aviation security and how to meet the challenges of national security by building resilience. Preventive measures for facing infiltration and illegal immigration will also be discussed, plus the European approach to coping with security issues.
The ISNR conference will conclude on the third day with a seminar on the telecom sector's role in international security and national resilience headed by Mr. Meshaal Bin Hussein, Head of Security Operations at TRA. The seminar will highlight homeland security in IT and ways to face data security challenges and criminal abuse of social sites, as well as uncovering internet crimes using digital tools and technology.
Specialized workshops will be held during the conference in cooperation with the British Transport Laboratory, UNICRI and the European Organization for Security to highlight the global best practices in dealing with security issues including road safety and its impact on society's wellbeing. The workshops will also focus on revenue and cost in limiting crimes, managing wide scale crises and security issues related to vital facilities.
The first workshop will be lead by Dr. Gehad Yousef Esbaita, GM of the Emirates Driving Company. Mr. Massimiliano Monatanari, Head of UNICRI will be leading the second workshop; the third and fourth workshops will be taken by Dr. Luigi Rebuffi, Chief Executive Officer, European Organization for Security. The participants in the workshops include Simon Labbett, Regional Director (UAE), Transport Research Laboratory, Nigel Byard, Incident Management Specialist, TRL, James Castle, Safety Engineering Consultant, TRL, Pat Hayes, Principal Consultant Middle East, TRL, Brian Powrie, International Counter Terrorism Advisor of UNICRI’s Security Governance and Counter-Terrorism Laboratory, and Laura Capobianco, Senior Analyst and Project Manager, International Center for the Prevention of Crime.
The conference also will host three round tables discussing e-piracy viruses, building capabilities in the field of e-evidence and trends to leverage laws regarding battling international e-crimes.
